OK dishwasher, bad sizing

You would think dishwasher manufacturers and crockery manufacturers would get together and make products that fit well...
This dishwasher works well, and I like that it has a thing for securing wine glasses, however I removed 2 stars because the height position of the upper shelf prevents dinner plates from fitting on the bottom. My dinner plates are only 27cm diameter which is the standard (everywhere stocks mostly 26/27cm dinner plates). There is sufficient internal height for the manufacturers to position the upper shelf 3cm higher, which would allow dinner plates to be placed in the bottom, and cups and other items would still easily fit on the top shelf. I don't know why they have made it like this.
I've had to buy dinner plates 22cm and 24cm in diameter so they fit. You can place larger plates at an angle on the top shelf, but it only really holds one or two at a time like that. Also the cutlery basket has holes that are mostly too small for my cutlery handles, which are wider at the bottom. Although that is more the fault of the cutlery designers.
