LOOKING FOR A BEER & WINE STORE?
4/5
The BEKO is a great little fridge for my purposes in our utility room, that is to provide a chilled storage for wines, beers and cordials. It has plenty of capacity for that. It is a larder fridge, ie there is no freezer compartment. It does mean that there should be no manual defrosting required. Again, that is exactly what I wanted. I would have preferred it if it could be set to run a little bit warmer, but the thermostat setting of 1 (ie the warmest) gives a temperature of +5degC. However, this is probably deliberate on the part of BEKO's designers as +5degC is the generally accepted lower end for domestic refrigerator operation.
This BEKO would not provide enough storage for fresh food for any more than a couple of undemanding people. The shelving and door storage is straightforward and flexible and the door can be mounted to open in either sense, but that is standard in most fridges these days.
As an integrated fridge, it is important to remember that its efficiency rating is never going to be as good as a free-standing one as the opportunity for ventilation around it is, by definition, poorer. This one as a rating of F on the A-G scale: not great.
In sum, I can recommend this little BEKO as a second fridge for a family. I have had mine operating as I describe above for only a couple of weeks now so cannot comment on its longer-term reliability.
