This cooker is a huge let down, the hob in particular. It is impossible to maintain a rolling boil, simmer or an even cook with it - the hob comes on, brings the contents of the pan to a boil, then turns off, then back on again, and so on. It means that water/contents boils, then settles, boils, then settles, etc. All turning the dial down does is make this happen less frequently. I have boiled over pans and burned the contents numerous times and I am not inept in the kitchen! The multizone function is also over sensitive and often does not recognise that it has a pan on it. I hate using this hob! We had a much cheaper induction hob/cooker before and it was much better and easier to control. I raised my issues with Smeg and, in fairness to them, they were quick, polite and sent an engineer round quickly. However, following that, in their opinion the hob was working as expected and so they are not interested in doing anything further. We are stuck with this awful cooker. They seem to recognise their is an issue though as their solution (according to their website) is to buy a set of cast iron pots/pans, at great expense, as they work better than other induction approved ones. Well I'm sure they do, but that should not be needed and our current pots/pans worked fine on the old hob. I strongly regret buying this cooker and will not be buying anything from Smeg again. I expected much better from this supposedly premium brand. I suggest any potential buyers proceed with caution and definitely try-before-you-buy.
