I'm sure it would be great vacuum...... if it worked properly

I try not to leave low star ratings unless absolutely necessary but unfortunately, in our case, the vacuum very quickly became unfit for purpose. We have previously owned a Miele vac for many, many years previously, then we switched to Henry for a couple of years, and then decided to go back to the Miele brand. However, the issue we had with the Miele C2 is that long hair (from both my wife and daughter) would not get sucked up, it would just wrap itself around the wheels of the floor head until the one of the wheels stopped moving completely. This meant only one wheel would move and the floor head would not move across the floor properly. In order to temporarily resolve the issue I would have to get a Stanley knife out to cut all the hair away as you could not simply pull it off by hand alone. I called Miele to discuss (at this point I had owned the vac for 6 weeks). After over an hour on the phone trying to get them to understand the problem I was told that the floor head I had been supplied with was obsolete and had since been upgraded to a new model. The new floor head model was promptly sent to me in the hope this would resolve the issue. When it arrived I vacuumed the entire house, then turned the floor head over to inspect - unfortunately we had exactly the same issue with hairs tightly wrapped around the floor head wheels. I called Miele again who said there wasn't any issue with the vacuum and that it is just basic maintenance required by me ie they expect me to cut away all the hair by hand every time I use the vacuum. Eventually Miele said they would collect the vacuum for inspection but could give no indication of how long I would be without a vacuum. Also, the person I was talking with gave me no confidence that this would be resolved to my satisfaction (it was suggested that if they could find nothing wrong they would just send me the vacuum back as is). In short, their Customer Service was lacking any understanding or empathy and they did not want to accept that there could be the slightest possibility that there could be anything wrong with their product. At this stage I decided to call AO to discuss and this is where AO stepped in and took over. I have to say AO Customer Service is absolutely amazing - I spoke to 3 people in total over the course of a few days to get my issue sorted and every single one of them could not do enough to help me. They were all friendly, polite, happy and apologetic and wanted to resolve the issue as quickly as possible. I was given the opportunity to swap my Miele for something else and I went for a Shark Anti Hair Wrap - and, touch wood, no more hair wrapped around the wheels, it does what it is supposed to and sucks everything up. Hallelujah! I'm just so glad I purchased from AO because if I had purchased anywhere else I imagine I would still be left with a problematic Miele vac. I know the C2 gets great reviews, so it would seem no-one else is experiencing the same issues as us, but perhaps we had this problem because we have deep pile carpets and 2 x long haired humans. Maybe if you have a mix of wood flooring, low pile carpets/rugs, short animal hair, etc it works absolutely fine but in our house in just did not work as it should. Or maybe we just had a faulty vacuum. It's a shame but, based on Miele's terrible customer service, I will never recommend Miele to anyone again.
