Compared to my previous Belling cookers this is disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend. No hob hot light, which is an utterly bizarre thing to omit. The dials are way too chunky, they’re not easy to use, and the light bounces off them making them difficult to read. The ovens are a huge let down, both take an age to heat up to the required temperature, I’d expect it with the top oven but not a fan oven. My previous two Belling cookers had fan ovens that heated up quicker, but you’re looking at 10-15 mins with this version, and even then I don’t think the fan oven is at the temperature on the dial. The heat isn’t even throughout, and food doesn’t cook evenly, there’s a lot of turning things round, it also takes longer to cook than it should unless I put the temp up. AO sent a Belling engineer out to check, and the very centre of the oven apparently reaches the correct temp, but my oven thermometer reads about 20 degrees lower, and judging by how things come out, I’d say it’s probably correct. (I checked the oven thermometer in other ovens to check it wasn’t faulty, and it did reach the required temp) According to the engineer it’s because it’s at the front or the side of the oven, but I thought fan ovens were supposed to have even heat? This one doesn’t.
I’ve had the cooker about 6 months now, I thought I needed time to get used to it, but unfortunately my initial instincts were correct, I made a bad decision, and despite the price it seems ‘cheap’ if that makes sense. I’m writing this whilst waiting for the oven to heat up. I try not use it too often because I end up full of regret and wishing I’d had my previous one fixed. I wouldn’t buy Belling again. Unfortunately I can’t give it no stars.
