This oven has a design flaw....it leaks!! It comes with a drip tray which really should have raised alarm bells when we unboxed it. The drip tray overflows and spills into the drawers in the housing unit below. Hotpoint engineer has been out and blamed the seals, which he replaced but this hasn't helped. The top oven door doesn't even close against the seal, you can see straight into the cavity. When I pointed this out to the engineer he said that I was looking into the glass cavity not the oven cavity, and poked the seal in to the gap with his finger! We unscrewed it from the housing unit and pulled it forwards to stop it damaging our new kitchen units and it will filled the bottom of a baking tray on the floor whilst cooking roasted veg. Very frustrated with Hotpoint!!

I've had this oven for a few weeks and I'm very happy with my choice given the price paid. I was a bit wary to change to electric after years of having a gas oven but so far the oven has performed excellently. Cooking is even across all shelves and much faster than before. I tend to only use two of the cooking functions in the main cavity (fan and fan and grill) as these suit my requirements. I will probably experiment with the other settings over time. The solar grill on the top oven is particularly good, as fast as my gas grill if not better with even browning. Only slight drawback is the dials feel a tad plastic and I'm not convinced of their longevity. I don't have the dial reading issue like others do as mine is built lower, but I can see how this could be frustrating in a standard eye level placement. Overall a great oven with lots of features and loads of room. Happy to recommend.

It does all it says it will do I just wish the temperature was easier to read

This oven looks good and cooks well. However, there is one problem which is paramount. The control panel is set at the standard height but the settings are on the side of the knob, with the indicator at the top, and you need to be at least 5'8" tall to read them. I am 5'5" and need to stand on a stool to see clearly which setting I have the oven on. For this reason alone I cannot recommend this oven.

This double oven is fabulous! Cooking for a family of nine takes a skill in itself, but this Hotpoint oven has made my life so much easier. The top oven can be used for grilling, solar grilling or as a convection oven, the dials take a bit of getting used to because you don't need to set a temperature for the grill as its already done for you. When grilling you need to have the door open, but as the top oven is quite high, this doesn't cause a problem when you have children constantly under your feet! The dials themselves are quite high up, and for a shorty like me, I do have to go on tiptoes to see which setting it is on. The top oven has three heights for the shelves. The bottom oven cooks all ways imaginable, it has an amazing five shelf heights, meaning I can cook enough thin pizzas for the entire family instead of doing them on rotation. The oven is so quick and efficient at cooking the food, I actually look forward to cooking dinner. Its easy to clean and looks great.
