Both positives and negatives to this machine
3/5
There are positives and negatives to this machine. On the positive side, you can choose the temperature you wash at. After the heater on my old machine failed, I kept using it for a year, washing with cold water, so I was glad that I could do the same with this new machine. This saves a lot of electricity, so that, at current prices it costs about 6 to 10p to do a wash instead of 30 to 40p or more on very hot washes.
You can also spin at a lower rate than the one specified in the selected programme. If you need a faster spin, you can specify "no spin", then do a separate "spin and drain".
In the negative side, there was a lot of vibration and movement the first few times I used the machine. Though this was mitigated by anti-vibration devices purchased separately, it was only after advice from an engineer not to underload the machine that I managed to get satisfactory results in this regard. Apparently the balancing technology in these modern machines struggles if you don't put in the right load for the programme. (Never had these issues with old machines.)
I have come to the conclusion that this is going to be the case with any modern machine, and I am just going to have to learn some new tricks, even if, as an older dog, I might find it a bit hard.
So, overall, it's a decent washing machine, but progress in technology hasn't necessarily made things better.
