Quick chips
5/5
The handle of the basket broke on my last deep fay fryer so I decided to buy a new one. Well, they've all gone up in price since my last purchase but to my family, deep frying is the only way of getting a good chip. The only problem with a deep fat fryer is the cleaning so I wanted one with a removable bowl so that I could filter the oil (I was going to buy a container with a built in filter that I had seen) but when I saw this I knew this was going to do the job. Just turn the lever and it does it. Being stainless steel it washes quite easy. It heats up to 160C in about 5 mins (although I have to remember to turn the power switch on as my last fryer didn't have one). It does seem to cook the chips very very quick so I'm not sure if the temps are exact. I've tried both ways, par boiling and raw, before frying but they still cook very quick so I stand over the fryer ready to get them out. I guess it's just trial and error as my old one was when I first got it.
The power lead isn't very long so you may be restricted where you can use it. This model came with a timer on top but it's black digits so doesn't stand out very well and should have been more upright so you could see it better.
Also you have to reach across the lid to set the timer and there is a lot of steam coming from the lid so be careful. The window in the lid gets very steamed up so you can't actually see the food cooking but I think that is the same with many products.
Overall I think this will be a very good fryer, the self - filtration of the oil being it's selling point.
