So far, it’s a perfect 10.
5/5
As with many products it’s easy to find negative reviews but I found enough positive reviews to try for myself.
If you don’t want to read any further then my assessment is that the Oleoclean Pro is perfect.
It was relatively simple to assemble although I didn’t find the on/off switch straightaway... I guess I should have read the instructions.
I filled with new oil to the Max mark which I had no difficulty seeing so I’m not sure why other reviews have said it’s hard to see.
I decided to do Beer-battered cod and triple-cooked chips for my first use. The chips require a second cook (after the primary boiling) at 130c and although there is no indicator mark for 130c (it starts at 150c) I guessed the position and then used a digital temperature gauge to confirm. After I achieved the temperature I cooked the first batch of chips (5min at 130c) took them out, put them on kitchen paper to drain, placed the second batch of chips in the basket and then measured the temperature ... it was back to 130c in the time it took me to do those things. Later I set the temperature to 180c for the third cook and when I measured it with the digital thermometer it was 179.5c which I thought was really impressive. The chips were perfect I turned the temperature up to 190c which measured 100% accurately and cooked perfect batter on the fish.
As for the emptying, filtration and storage of the oil. It worked perfectly and made no mess. The only down side is that there’s probably a little more oil left in the cooking pan than ideal after the filtration process but I tipped this out into a jam jar to use next time I fry an egg.
One thing that doesn’t get mentioned in reviews of deepfat fryers is the after-smell that can permeate the kitchen or even the whole house .... in this respect the Oleoclean was far better than any previous fryer we’ve used.
All in all I’d give it 10/10 and am really glad I bought it.
