Cleans well but does not fit tall wine glasses.
2/5
Firstly the pros:
Genuinely exceptional cleaning
Very quiet
Energy efficient
Fast programmes clean well
And now the problem - the internal layout of this dishwasher is not great (particularly the top deck).
The manual recommends Riedel wine glasses for this dishwasher; we have three types of (dishwasher safe) Riedel wine glass and none of them fit on the top shelf (we even smashed one trying). Wine glasses only fit on the bottom shelf, and you can only get a maximum of 3 (only 2 reds!) in at a time in some special slots. Contrast this with our very old Candy dishwasher, which could fit 10 in at once just on the top deck. This is a design choice, and for us, it’s a bad one. We also attempted the method described in the manual for putting wine glasses in, which involved 'sliding' part of the cutlery tray open to fit the tall stems in, this resulted in the previously mentioned smashed glass. This issue was not helped by removing the cutlery tray, as due to the very shallow top shelf and lack of working rest (see below), there's no way to easily place a wine glass on the top deck.
About the rest - this is intended for bracing wine glasses on the top shelf and has 3 positions, however only the tucked away position is stable. When you have the rest out in either of the other positions, it doesn’t latch properly at all, and so when you rest something against it - unless you have the dexterity of a safe cracker - it collapses into its tucked away position. Not only this, but you can’t fit mugs (or much of anything) under the rest when it’s out, rendering this area dead space.
It also ‘feels’ much smaller than the 3 other dishwashers we’ve had due to its layout, it simply doesn’t fit in as much as you’d think.
Knowing all this, I’d not recommend any Miele dishwasher (apparently they all have the same layout) if you have tall wine glasses, which is a shame because it really does clean exceptionally well.
