    Brilliantly simple and stylish

    5/5
Earlier this year I bought another Smart TV (different manufacturer) and it took ages to set up. Despite strong wifi signal and all the various passwords to hand, it took an age with so many teething problems. So when the Sony TV arrived I was a bit dubious; I''m not a technophobe by any stretch but sometimes setting up a new bit of tech is daunting. I needn''t have worried. From box to set up took fifteen minutes max. OK firstly, the basics; it''s a lovely slim design and fits in nicely. It''s light to manoeuvre into position - I used the stand but with a slim TV like this it would look great on a wall. The picture is as pin sharp and crisp as you like, I''ve had HD TVs in the past but nothing like this. I''ve watched nature documentaries, feature films and TV series and it really does give you that home cinema feel. Even my soundbar has been retired off as the quality of the sound doesn''t need anything else - I''ve tried it at high volume (and I mean high volume, sorry neighbours) and there is no noticeable deterioration at all. I guess there maybe audiophiles who would splash out for a soundbar but to be honest, I cannot fault the sound at all. As a previous owner of Youview, I was pleased that this was incorporated as it makes it so easy to check out the TV guide and catch up on anything from the usual places BBC, ITV, Channel 4 etc. Google TV was a great bonus as all the Apps I needed were preloaded, although I have added more since and it is so surprisingly easy even for an old bloke like me. Film and Series suggestions are frighteningly accurate I found and helped me try out things completely new to me. Something else that has been a revelation is the voice search - even if you don''t know what you''re looking for it''ll find it (that historical thing with Cate Blanchett in helped me with my brain fog). Link it up with Alexa and you can go hands free! Casting is a piece of cake too, so much better than huddling round a phone screen to watch family videos. I really feel as though I''ve only just started to to make use of the tech in this TV, there''s so much more that I''m still yet to find out! I''ve tried to find fault but I''ve failed. If you like great sound and vision and super reactive controls, this is the TV for you. I can''t wait for the football season to start now!

    Amazing Picture Quality

    4/5
This is a great LED TV. The home screen is useful, and I found the recommendations for TV shows and movies to be quite appropriate for my tastes. It has many picture optimisation settings, including different HDR modes which were fun to play around with. I like the quick settings menu as it was quite useful whenever I needed to change things quickly, like brightness and picture mode, without having to go back and go to the main TV settings. One of my uses for this TV is for gaming (playstation 5). I found the picture quality nice. If you are a casual gamer, this TV would be great, and it has a game menu where you can adjust black levels to make the image clearer depending on which game you''re playing . If you are a competitive gamer, or you play games regularly this TV might not have some features you would like. The refresh rate is 60Hz (which is plenty for casual gaming, but some gamers would like 120Hz, and you can find TVs with that), also a curious thing about HDR when on the PlayStation, when I wanted to switch on HDR from the PlayStation, it said that HDR can only work on 1080p and it would downgrade from 4k.. I found that a little weird. HDR with 4K would''ve been nice, I don''t know if there were any reasons for that, or if there is a setting on the TV that I didn''t switch it or something. Overall, I think this TV is great if you''re watching TV (mostly streaming apps) and casual gaming. You wouldn''t be disappointed.

Easy to Use, Excellent Picture, Recommended!

    5/5
The product is fabulous, and a very welcome addition to our home. Setting up the TV is incredibly straight-forward, with the iPhone companion app (Google Home), which saves a lot of typing using the remote control interface. It connected to the internet first time and was up and fully running in under 5 minutes. The Google TV function is excellent - all streaming apps in the one place, making ease of access via the Smart remote very quick to master. The quality of the picture is exceptional. A real mix of vibrancy in the colour palette, but also crisp detail in the pictures. It''s nicely compatible with 4K channels, high resolution gaming and ultra HD channels, which really enhances the experience. Built into the options of the TV are multiple functions, and while I feel I''m still learning how to properly maximise these, it''s a rewarding learning curve. The in-built sound system with the TV is good - it has a very clear audio and is nicely balanced - we have also tried it with a separate Sony soundbar and speaker setup and it was exceptional - especially for movies, where you get a really immersive sound quality - but the standard built-in speakers are honestly excellent quality and will easily fill a medium sized room without any difficulty. The product is a nice size, is very lightweight, and looks the part on our existing TV stand, with a very full screen and picture (minimal bordering around the TV). Please note the above is based on a standing version of the TV - we have not (and do not intend to) try it wall-mounted.
