Great Fridge Freezer on a budget
4/5
We just bought this Fridgemaster American Fridge Freezer after our previous Hisense American Fridge Freezer packed in after 5 years. The price of the fridge freezer, useful size and Which Best Buy award, made it quite a simple choice. We went for the black model. The size was a good match to our previous fridge, and it fitted nicely into the existing space. We really like the layout of the fridge, with the side by side fridge and freezer design. As the shelving is limited in width, the fridge is designed for 'upwards' stacking of food/bottles rather than spreading food out in the width and depth (which we did with our Hisense). The bottom shelf can take a lot of bottles and the bottom drawer is sufficiently large to fill with lots of veg. The fridge needs careful stacking for a family of 5 however. We are considering getting some clear storage boxes to help with this. We particularly like the freezer, however, which presents your frozen food quite clearly. This means that the risk for 'loosing food' and finding it years later is greatly reduced. The extra door shelves are excellent for putting ice cream boxes in. The fridge is proper(!) cold and should keep food fresh for a long time. The standard setting at 4 degrees Celcius feels almost too cold, with strawberries and grapes seemingly struggling a bit. We are considering increasing the temperature to 6 degrees. The dials for using the fridge is really easy. The lighting in the fridge is not great, but this not a big problem. The black surface is slightly shiny and finger marks do get visible. This is not necessarily a bad thing, to help identify what needs wiping down. We think the fridge looks really smart and the doors feel really airtight. It is really quiet when compared to our previous fridge. Although we have not had it for long, it does feel like it should be of sturdy quality. All in all, we are really happy with this fridge freezer and we are hopeful that it will last a long time.
