Excellent but for two things....
4/5
I have rated this Samsung fridge/freezer as 4 star.
This is a beautiful large and smart looking appliance, with a stunning stainless steel effect finish that thankfully doesn’t show up any fingerprints or other everyday smears which is a huge plus.
The inside is large and clearly lit. It can easily take a week’s worth of shopping with room to spare. The shelves in the door are slightly wider than expected which is useful and you can fit taller bottles, such as milk, opened wine, etc easily in the bottom shelf.
This sits in my kitchen which hasn’t got any seating in, so apart from popping in to do ‘kitchen’ things we don’t spend much time in the same room so I can’t really comment on how noisy/quiet it is. For me, it is lovely and quiet, and the noise doesn’t bother us at all but that may differ if we sat next to it, in a shared kitchen diner for example.
Unfortunately, I have dropped one star for two separate things which regards the functionality of the fridge/freezer.
First, the shelves inside the fridge are not adjustable. Basically, the height Samsung decides you need between shelves is the height you get!
Unfortunately, this leaves at least two shelves practically redundant for us as we can’t stand up everyday items in them e.g., cans of pop or jam jars. These items are not particularly high, but it is annoying that items like these must be laid flat instead.
For the sake of an extra few grooves in the side of the fridge that would have enabled shelves to be moved around on, this could have easily been resolved and the appliance be much more user friendly.
The shelves however do remove easily for cleaning and I suppose you could take a shelf out if you wanted a taller space between existing shelves.
I am not sure of the drink shelf either. It doesn’t do anything different to the other shelves, it’s just a different coloured plastic with grooves in that don’t seem to serve a purpose. The grooves don’t help with bottle storage, the shelf is not set at a different angle to prevent spillage etc, I really don’t get it. I would have preferred it if this shelf was the same as the others.
Secondly, there is only the three deep freezer drawers. There is no slim freezer drawer at the top of the freezer that holds ice cube trays! This is so annoying. I don’t buy ice cubes when I can make them for free myself.
Balancing an ice cube tray full of water on top of existing items in the freezer drawers is nigh on impossible! I can’t think when and how there would be a perfectly straight surface at the top of a deep drawer to balance a tray full of water on. The irony is, they have even supplied an ice cube tray too. Waste of plastic?
The removal of this slim ice cube drawer does seem to be something that has been removed from a lot of models though, so not specific to this freezer. Why, oh why, has this slim drawer been removed?!
The fact the shelves aren’t adjustable and there isn’t a slim ice cube drawer is the reason I have deducted a star.
My older Samsung model had both which was much better for us as a family. Changing these, is a step backwards as far as I am concerned. If both of these hadn’t been changed in the design, I would happily award this appliance 5 stars.
