I'm so delighted with this Hisense American-Style Fridge Freezer - what a great choice and tremendously good value, costing just over a quarter of the other model I'd been considering. The build quality is top and the design features are so well thought out, from having proper runners on the drawers that stop them falling out, to the extra shallow drawer which is perfect for long vegetables like celery and cucumber, as well as cheeses and flat deli packs. The little snack drawer in the middle is a brilliant addition. The double depth of the fridge door shelves means I can get ALL my bottles and jars tucked in but still accessible, so I'm no longer having to shuffle everything around on the shelves to find something. Having shelves in the freezer doors is a brilliant idea, once again helping with sorting and accessibility. We now have a dedicated lolly shelf, and somewhere close to hand for the packs of raw cat food we have to bring out daily to defrost.
Something the specs don't make enough of is the split freezer: you essentially have two separate freezers and can run each at different temperatures - one even goes up to fridge temperature for those occasions (like parties and Christmas) when you need more fridge space and less freezer space. You could even use it as a wine fridge! The spring mechanisms on the doors stop them from slamming closed, and the "door open" alert doesn't start too soon, or repeat too frequently, meaning that you can clean the fridge inside without the alarm going incessantly and driving you crazy.
American-style fridge-freezers are big things that can really dominate a room. The very slightly reduced height makes this model less imposing and also means that I, as a short person, can still reach the upper shelf. I was a little concerned that the increased depth (greater than my old fridge-freezer) might be a problem, but in fact it's a benefit as it means there's no issue with the open doors catching the next door cupboards.
I hadn't really wanted a water dispenser and was concerned it might take up too much space from the door storage. But as this was the only device I'd found with full door storage in the freezer compartments, in the end I decided that that benefit outweighed my concerns. As it turned out, the rest of the space is so generous that I hardly notice it, and with the heatwave we've had since it was installed, I've even found myself drawing a glass of cold water or using it to top something up to cool it down. Actually very useful so I don't regret it at all.
Most of all, I still haven't got over just opening all the doors and gazing... my well-organised, well-stocked fridge-freezer is a thing of beauty that makes me feel abundant and happy!
