The handle is not wood. It is a plastic covered handle which rubs off. I have had this kettle for 18 months and the wood effect on the inside of the handle has worn off and also scratched. The kettle is lovely to look at when new and works well, but looks scruffy after 18 months. Fair play to AO, they have agreed to replace with another kettle.
