First tumble dryer but I'm quite a demanding customer, so read all the reviews first. This one was harder to find professional reviews, but customer reviews were positive. I got this nearly half price from AO and seemed head and shoulders better than the budget options from Hotpoint and beko.
Specifically I wanted something that wouldn't shrink clothes, and the AEG promises to be gentle with the clothes by gently warning and cooling the drum. I've tried this a few times on the coolest setting and nothing has shrunk (denim, lycra or knitted tops) but some stuff has come out slightly damp. There are a further 2 temperature settings to try though, and you can always extend the drying time. It's fair to say I'm still playing with the settings, but it's definitely possible to chuck anything in and out will come out dry if you play with the settings.
The lint capture drawer is a bit fiddly to open, but functional, if you use fabric softener in the wash, is not recommended to use it in the drying cycle, and stuff still comes out study and smells amazing.
To be honest it's a dryer, it dries.. I bought it as it promised to be careful with my clothes (even stuff labelled as not dryer safe) and it seems to do just that. Of course you do that at your own risk, so can't blame AEG of something do shrink.
In summary, I think that the drying times are slightly longer in this machine, due to it being 'gentle' with the clothes.. for me that's more of a plus than a minus, but if you just want it for towels and bedding, quicker it cheaper Machines are probably available. Also this is rated at 7kg, but most cycles require 3kg or less... The fuller cycles tend to be the ones where some clothes still come out damp.. but I'm guessing this would be the case with most dryers. The water cartridge is top left, meaning is easy to empty end of cycle too
Overall very happy with the product... 2 year warranty as standard too
